Happy Birthday to me!

I had such a fun birthday! I love birthdays! Never mind how much older you are getting . . . and how that leads to no more birthdays . . . so anyway, I just wanted to see how cheap I could make this birthday, cuz we are so short on $$$. I just wanted to go get a free breakfast at Denny's, sit at the park and watch Charlie, then go see the movie Avatar, which is now at the $2.00 theater! Yah, it would have been so cheap, but my sweet hubby also went out and got me flowers, candy for the theater, and pretty new earrings. We also went to Cold Stone after the movie (only spent .77) and free dinner at Joe's bbq with Whitmers (it's Joe's bday too). Funny we went there cuz Chuck also brought home a large smoked bbq pork! (yah, for MY birthday, cuz that's me, big meat eater) Isn't he so sweet! (thanks Curt!) He just didn't know when to quit! I got to hear from all 4 grandbabies today! (Jaydon & Gavin sang to me) It ended at almost midnight by seeing baby Chance on Skype. He was wide awake and we swear he whispered "Happy Birthday Grammy"!

CJ(or Charles Lee Brown III or Ceej)

This #1 son is such a great guy. He has been a joy to raise and put up with. He is such a tease, and it sometimes pains me to see him tease Stephanie now as much as he teased his sisters and mom. She takes it pretty well. As I stand back and watch I realize how much he is like his dad. Now I see it carry on to the next generation. It sure makes life funner! Now we'll see if it carries on to Charlie. Ceej is frugal yet fun. He can make a party out of any situation. He loves games, and is so competitive. He has a great singing voice too. He actualy has many talents and in High School got 8varsity letters; 2 in football, 2 in wrestling, 3 in track, and 1 in choir. He is also so smart He is also very intelligent. I remember when he took precalc, and I wondered how Chuck & I could produce someone with them kinda smarts! C.J. is awaiting an acceptance letter from Dental School, and has received one as alternate so far. We're hoping for the one in Mesa, but he could possibly be accepted to the one in Glendale. We're so glad they live close and we get to see them often. They help us out so much too. What a great little family you are!

Oh, how we miss Paul! I feel like he's on his mission again, but I don't get an email every week! Paul was our busy boy, always getting into things, yet very conscientious about everyone else. He is the one who makes us all laugh. All the boys are funny, but Paul just comes up with amazing lines ("I can hear you breathing!") I almost wet my pants when he gets going. I laugh so hard I cry and can't breath. Oh, it hurts to think about it. It has defused some intense moments around here, and for that I am grateful. He played football, wrestled and did track, but specialized in wrestling and took 4th in the state tournament! He also has a great singing voice, but for some reason the chior teacher didn't like him, so he didn't make the higher level chior (something about flirting with her??) He loves all kinds of music. When we all went up to take CJ to the MTC Paul got this BYU/Utah bug, and I should have known then that Utah was in his future. He is interested in the accounting program there. Sure enough he met Skye and Utah skies are all he sees now (haha . . . so I'm not as funny as he is)

Jerry has always been my cuddle bug, some would call him a mama's boy, but he doesn't seem to mind. I remember rocking him and he'd just sit there and let me. The other boys couldn't wait to get going off to some adventure. He would also let me catch him when I'd chase the other boys around trying to get them under the mistletoe at Christmas. He is named after Uncle Jerry Breinholt (Chuck's uncle) and my dad (Normand). In school he was the star football player on Brimhall and Mesa's JV teams. He also wrestled and could pin anyone. He is a hard workin man now, as you can see from this picture. He has traveled all around the world. His boss (dad) says he's one of the best guys he's got on the crew. He's figuring out life right now. Trying new things and learning some things the hard way. He is such a people person and has a gift for listening to and helping others. So many people love him. He is a good kid, and we have all the faith in the world that he'll do great things in his life. (will he also marry a blonde, who's name starts with the letter S? Only time will tell) I miss him; Nug my cuddlebug!

This picture is from her senior prom. We were all amazed that she could doll up this pretty! As her nick name states, she's one tough cookie. From the time she was little she has been a fiesty one. We waited through those 3 boys to get our little princess and though she liked to dress up at times she was a tough and sassy sis. When Doreen came over with her daughter to play one day when they were 3 years old, I said "Aubrey's coming, won't that be fun?" and she looked at me with an excited look and said "Yes, I will beat her up!" I think she played rough with her brothers or something. She's always been painfully honest too, like the time she snuggled into bed with me in the wee hours of the morning, then sat up, looked straight at me and said "Mommy, you look scary!" She is so talented in drama and singing. (see #7 on things about me list) She is a strong girl who will do amazing things in her life. She's so good and cares about people, and she's like the best worker they have at Wildflower Cafe (the manager said so) She's talking about going to school and getting into food & nutrition. She's so good to keep us eating good stuff at home. She's truly amazing and awesome and we love her!

Kyle is C.J.'s twin brother, 10 years later. They share a birthday, and I took it as a sign, and counted it as my decade of child bearing. Kyle has always been into characters and acting, especially playing the "ladies man" (as you can tell from this picture) From the time he was 2 1/2 years old and carrying around a Woody doll. He would hold it up to people at the store and say "Howdy Little Lady". As he grew older and his teenage brothers would bring girls over, he would greet them all with a big "Hello Ladies". It was such a crack up. He has never been afraid to get up infront of people. He has bore his testimony almost every month at church since he was little. He even entertained a whole cruise ship with his karaoke skills! He is now into drama at Taylor Jr. High, and wants to continue in high school and even pursue an acting career. Why didn't I get him into community theater when he was younger? What were we thinking putting him in baseball and "making" him do wrestling and football? He is very talented in drama and made the school play this spring. He will be a German Soldier. He is a great help around the house, especially since we've lost all his brothers, he is the muscles I call on now. He is keeping us warm this winter. We used to call him Pyro boy, but he has harnessed those tendencies and has become our #1 fireplace fire builder (I know you guys in real cold country are laughing now) He is a great kid and will do great things in his life!

Last but not least . . .

We have Jenny May Brown, who came to our family in Oct of 2002. We became foster parents and after lots of prayers things fell together and we knew she was to be our 2nd daughter and last of the Brown Bunch. Jenny has had lots of adjusting to do, getting to finally stay in one place, with a family who loves her very much. Brandee finally got a sister, and Kyle got someone down the line, so that he could continue the pecking order (and that he does). Jenny is very talented as well. We took one look at her little shape and knew she was a born gymnast. She has specialized in gymnastics for the past 4 years, taking home many first place medals. She has recently decided to concentrate more on tumbling and tramp, and leave the beam, bars and vault behind. She is also doing volleyball afterschool and is pretty good. She is a natural born athlete and will do well in whatever she chooses. She's trying to decide if she wants to do the whole cheerleading thing. That would be a new thing for us. She also plays the guitar, and loves to take pictures of herself and friends. She has her ups and downs in the crazy junior high world, but is for the most part fun and happy! She thinks of others and wants them to be happy as well. She is looking forward to going to visit her 1/2 sister and her family in Seattle, WA after Christmas. (see my Sept entrance re: Seattle. She's another part of our family I need to spotlight) We're so happy to have Jenny as our caboose!

1.Braggy people bug me! (oh wait, I just did some pretty good mom bragging above!)
2. I love people (even braggy ones) I love to hear their stories, their points of view, their tragedies and triumphs. People are awesome!
3. I love baby people. They are a miracle. I loved feeling life inside of me and nursing. I love that you had to work with pain to achieve something great. I dream about my babies now, after I've played with Charlie for awhile. Babies are the best!
4. I love my mommy. She is my hero. She has taught me so much of quiet strength and unconditional love.
5. I am married to the nicest guy I've ever met. He is so kind and thoughtful and I'm lucky to have him! (Happy Anniversary to us! 26 years - man we sound old!)
6. I love conference weekend! It's the best! To sit around in my pj's and listen to amazing, insightful talks & be filled!
7. October and Autumn are my favorite time of the year!
8. I love to hear Brandee sing. It started out primary songs, went to "I Swear" as she looked at the stars, to her latest "Why don't you like me", as she does this funky dance. It makes me happy!
9. My favorite color is green. I love almost any color green, but forest green is my favorite
10. I have to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" to start out the holiday season
11. The farthest place I've ever traveled is Hong Kong. I have been blessed to travel to many wonderful places. (I had to to get to see Chuck)
13. I've been through 19 temples and have seen approx. 25. (thanks to traveling mentioned above) We had a goal when we were first married to go to every temple on the earth, but the growth of the gospel has changed that!
12. My favorite food is pasta! Oh, it's bad! Nummy Noodles!

21. My favorite book is "Bonds That Make Us Free". I love to read and learn so much when I do. Historical Fiction is the best, but it can't compare with Bonds, it's a life changing, self help book
22. I am a "Pollyanna". I see the good in people and situations. I know it's not always good, but I want it to be, and I know people have choices. If they don't want it to be good they are not a "Pollyanna". I hate contention too, so don't argue this point with me.
